Pattern Description:
Misses Dress has bust darts, is lined with a back hemline slit, is semi-fitted with a stitched hem and back zipper.
Pattern Sizing:
Sizes 16-24 - I started with a size 24.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, just without the sleeves.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I think this pattern had a lot more potential than the cover photographs portrayed. This pattern is a good reason why you should look at the line drawings because they show a very pretty dress with a lot of possibility.
Fabric Used:
I'm calling this a laminated ponte because it's shiny & leather-like on the front but a regular ponte like fabric on the back. Because of it's unique possibilities, I used both sides.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
To make this pattern fit me, I started with my TNT dress pattern. Making the pattern pieces fit to a pattern that already works for me. However, I did end up omitting the sleeves because I had some issues with easing the fabric. It wasn't worth the fight so I left them off and I really like the dress sleeveless.
I used both sides of the fabric on the front in a checkerboard pattern to emphasis the fabric. To accomplish this I made 2 front top pieces and 2 bottom skirt pattern pieces, then used a single layout cutting one top and one skirt piece on each side of the fabric. I also added a stud trim to the front of the dress to give it a little edgy look. Otherwise the pattern is made just like the pattern suggests.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Oh definitely! It has so many possibilities, so many ways to make it yours and I highly recommend that others not be influenced by the bad pictures on the pattern envelope and look beyond that to what the dress can be!

Sherrill - I prewashed the fabric and let it hang dry. I guess I could wash the dress later but I would be very careful because of the stud trim.
