| These six camisoles are my entries for the One Pattern Many Looks Contest. Basic rules: "The goal of this contest is to take one view of a pattern, and create multiple garments with distinct looks from that view, without needing pattern drafting skills." I used the camisole pattern from this book with various fabrics, trims, and techniques for the six different looks. All of the camis will get a lot of use throughout the year.
Pattern Sizing:
Multiple sizes are included in the book. I used size Small.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, though I used many techniques that I am familiar with that are not in the book.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the basic shape of the pattern and how versatile it is..
Fabric Used:
BLUE SILK DUPIONI: This was leftover from a project several years ago and I just had enough to eek out this bias-cut cami. The back had to be cut in two pieces with a center seam. For the bottom hem, I serged the raw edge with a 3-thread overlock stitch, folded up about 1/2 inch, sewed that with a straight stitch, and hand beaded that edge. For the upper portion of the cami front and back, I left the edges raw, then used a thin strip of Lite Steam-A-Seam to a adhere the selvage strips (that I had saved from the fabric scraps) to the cami. After pressing per the Steam-A-Seam instructions, I sewed over the selvages. The shoulder straps were also made from the selvages and Lite Steam-A-Seam. I beaded the selvage raw edge after sewing on the shoulder straps.

BEIGE POWER DRY KNIT BY MALDEN MILLS: This is a high-tech, warm, wicking fabric that is perfect for a base layer. I have a bolt of it in stash because many years ago I found it in a $1 per yard clearance section. Such a deal!!! The front upper edge was cut rounded instead of v-shaped. Upper raw edges are finished with a pale pink foldover elastic that also forms the shoulder straps. I used a twin needle to sew the bottom hem.
Beige PowerDry
GREEN WOOL LYCRA 4-WAY STRETCH KNIT: I purchased this at Mood Fabrics in NYC last May during PR Weekend. The top edges are bound with 2 self-fabric strips; the front strip becomes the shoulder straps. For the bound portions, the strips were cut 2-inches wide by 80% of the cami raw edge length plus the strap lengths. I left the bottom edge raw because I like the way it curls up.

ORCHID NYLON TRICOT KNIT: This fabric and splittable lace were leftovers from participating in the Lingerie Sew Along on PR in 2011. I fussy cut the upper lace applique to fit the cami. The lace at the hem is a standard way to cut splittable lace. The upper back edge and side fronts are finished with double-folded, self-fabric strips that become the shoulder straps. This fabric doesn't have a lot of stretch, so the binding length is 95% of the cami raw edge length plus shoulder strap length.

PINK 3-PLY SILK CREPE: I adore the way this silk drapes and feels. I purchased less than one yard of this fabric at the local shop Homespun in 2012 for a different project, but it was just right for this cami. It is cut across the grain as there wasn't enough fabric for a bias cut, but the fabric has a bit of built-in stretch so it works fine as a pullover. The spaghetti shoulder straps are cut on a partial bias (couldn't do true bias due to lack of yardage). The front and back upper edges are faced with scraps of pink tie-dye charmeuse from a dress made in 2012. The hand beading along the top edge keeps the facing from flipping up, since the understitching didn't do that enough. The bottom edge is a 3-thread rolled hem with regular serger thread.

WHITE NYLON TRICOT KNIT: This fabric and both types of lace were also leftovers from other projects. The pattern book has great instructions for mitering lace along the upper edge. The shoulder straps are a stretchy lingerie lace.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I rounded the neckline shape on the beige version, but otherwise did not alter the basic pattern front and back pieces.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I already have a few more planned. This pattern could easily be lengthened per the book instructions to make a nightgown.

Your camis are gorgeous! All your work is wonderful. My favorite detail is the beading on the pink silk crepe. The way you kept the spacing so even is amazing.
