Pattern Description:
Lovely figure-skimming top with no closures, due to the flattering bias cut. This blouse is shaped with bust darts and center seams that gently hug the body. Version 1 has a long collar that can be tied in a bow and elbow length sleeves gathered to a cuff. Version 2 has a shorter contrast collar and a notched cuff.
I made view 2 with the shorter collar and notched cuffs.
Pattern Sizing:
0 - 18
I sewed a size 10 as per my full bust measurement (C cup).
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, Colette Patterns instructions are always a pleasure to sew with.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Simple and elegant blouse with nice details.
I love the notched cuff detail.
Fabric Used:
A beautiful Balenciaga fine black silk crepe.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
-I didn't use a contrast fabric for the collar, I used the main fabric everywhere.
-I raised the bust darts by 1cm (3/8″).
-I replaced the neckline facings with a bias binding to finish the neckline seam.
Next time I will :
- Interface the back collar pieces because the collar is wavy every time and it’s bugging me !
- I find the sleeves cuffs too big on version #2, my arms “float” inside, so next time I should reduce the length of the cuffs and gather the lower edge of the sleeve to match OR mix the views : the short collar from version #2 with the sleeves from version #1.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes.
Conclusion:
I've already sewn it twice and my 2 jasmines are very different. The look of the blouse can change dramatically depending on the fabric you pick, from casual to chic : a very versatile pattern.
Really pretty!
