| Pattern Description:
Mens' western style shirt, with women's option also Pattern Sizing:
One size only in envelope - but an easy grade. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Good grief no, thank goodness! LOL! The pattern has cutesy embroidery transfers for the true western look, but we weren't going for that. I piped the details using a very fine piping cord and a contrast fabric, and the contrast collar stand, under collar and cuffs give it a more modern finish. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes they weren't too bad. I confess I don't generally bother unless I am mystified, and this one goes together pretty much as shirts always do so it was all pretty easy. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the styling of it, and I am a sucker for these old one size patterns with seam allowance marked on - so easy to tell at a glance what you are doing, and the dots are easy to find. Reminds me of my misspent (sewing) youth! Fabric Used:
I used Splendor II - Exotic Flora by Jason Yenter in colour Almond - bought from eQuilter but they are all out of it now. It took every last bit of 2.5 yards too. The contrast bits were cut from a fat quarter I found in my (scarily enormous) stash. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The pattern being vintage is a 42, and my man is more of a 39-40, so I tweaked some breadth out of it. I overdid it a little - perfect through the shoulders but not enough ease to put the darts in the back.
I piped the pockets, tabs and yokes in a contrast fabric.
Because the husband is very tall with long arms, I added 5cm to the sleeves and body length. The sleeve adjustment I made by cutting and spreading but the length I tagged on the bottom.
The other notable addition is matching the pattern over the pockets, a tutorial for which is on my blog. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I already have another cut out. A torturous pattern matching affair but it will pay off in the end product. Fabric for a third is on its way here. this one is a winner and the husband owes me big time! Conclusion:

It looks like a lovely shirt, but your thumbnail won't enlarge when I click on it. Please try uploading it a different way. One method that does work is becoming a friend of PR then adding it to your PR photo album and linking it to the review. A link to the pattern would be interesting, too.
