Pattern Description: Crossover front haltertop two-tone dress with waist pleats, armscye "collar" that runs from the center back around to the front along the armscye and up to neck, invisible back zipper, with a kick pleated pencil skirt and self-belt.
Pattern Sizing: Medium, 36" bust, 37" hip.
Did it look like the photo/drawing?: Yes! I used screen shots from the movie and draped the pattern on Wanda the Wonder Model. She's very patient.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Mmm, it was a bit of a challenge to figure out how this garment was made. I kept a photo record to draft instructions from. A link to these is below.
What did you like or dislike about this pattern? It's a pretty body conscience silhouette, so no eating before wearing. But I love green and white together in the summer.
Fabric used: The bodice is a white linen-look super stretchy on the cross grain only poly/lycra found in the dollar pile at last summer's ASG stash sale. The skirt portion is a 1 yard remnant poly suiting in a heathered Nile Green found at Joann's. Self-belt from a kit, also from the stash sale for a dime!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Not much. I think I got as close as possible to the original. I cut it pretty snug for both the look and the bodice fabric was seriously stretchy. I removed a bit of fullness from the side-seam high hip as I'm flat there (but left it in the pattern), and did a small sway back adjustment so the zipper would lay flat. I didn't draft the neck back as in the movie because frankly, all those buttons would get caught in my hair, so they'd probably get caught in yours as well. I modified it but think I kept the look. You be the judge.
Would you make it again? Would you recommend it to others? It's a pretty distinctive dress, I think one will be enough for me. Everyone needs a bit of Hussy in their closet, so Yes!
Conclusion: My Hussy came out great and I'm ready to make some serious seduction moves. Well, if some warm weather ever shows up, I will be. I've dug out my pearls and charm bracelet. When I modeled my Hussy for DBF, he was quiet for a bit then stuttered a few "ums" and a "cricky", so I would say I got his attention. But then he can have a short attention span, so he could have been referring to the soccer match for all I know.
Pics and far more tips and tricks can be viewed at The Heroine's Closet.
It’s just a little something discreetly racy for your inner Hussy.
Enjoy! Be a Tester!

Oh, I do like the little hussy's dress! White and sage green--what a fresh, appealing combination suggestive of the purity and fresh beginnings of springtime. I'll be watching for this one!

I've always loved that look and have thought about copying the top for years. Glad I put it off until someone else had the same idea. Can't wait for the pattern!
