|Pattern Description: |
High waisted straight skirt with paneled styling: not too loose or too tight around the hips, with a very fitted waist. Buttons up the front, has side seam pockets, and includes a self tie belt.
I made this version without buttons, and added an invisible zipper in center back.
0-18. I made a size 4 in waist and 6 in hips. (My measurements are 26.5" waist and 39" hips). It's curve-friendly.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Duh, it's Colette Patterns. They're perfect.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love this pattern. I made it once before and wear that skirt all the time. It's flattering and fits well, and can be worn to the office or for weekend play time. The panels make for easy fitting.
Wool for shell, polyester for lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
To change the closure type, I eliminated the front overlap and cut the front piece on the fold (the center front is where the buttons are marked). I added seam allowances to the back piece and cut two of them so I could insert an invisible zipper. The facings and lining were essentially the same as the original pattern, except for the front piece. I basically cut them to mimic the front shell. The back lining pieces were slip-stitched to the zipper.
The whole thing is shortened, too.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.
Love the Beignet! More photos on my blog. Thanks for reading!
