|Pattern Description: |
Unitard, Leotard and skirt. Unitard and Leotard have raglan sleeves. I made the Unitard.
18 sizes in envelope. Getting the correct size can be tricky. Since it's such a fitted garment, the amount of stretch in the fabric can make a huge difference. I first made it up in a K, which turned out to be way too small. My second try was an M which was just right for that fabric.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, if you look beyond the embellishments.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the simple lines of the unitard, and the raglan sleeves helped me with my ideas for embellishment.
Nylon lycra - Black, skin tone, and Pink with metallic foil print.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The unitard sleeves and legs were lengthened to full length.
I used a skin tone lycra to make a back "Cut-out" and lower the front neckline. The skintone lycra was stretchier then the black and pink fabrics, so it is a tiny bit baggy at the seams. You can't tell from a distance, but I'll know for next time to cut this fabric a bit smaller.
Before front and back were sewn together I appliqued the "flames" on. After the seams were sewn, the flames were sequinned in some areas.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I would. It seems that this pattern might be OOP, which is a shame. I think I'll be using it time and again as my dancer grows.
This is a nice pattern. Unitard patterns are few and far between, so I'm glad this one has children's and women's sizes in the one envelope. I'm also super proud of my design. It went really well with the music and choreography.
