Pattern Sizing:
Made to fit as per directions.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Although I like the top shown online better simply because I like the fabric that was used in the photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I wanted to use up some fabric in my stash. Something quick and easy that might interest one of my daughters. I have a lot of rayon knit in my stash that was purchased from fabric.com a while back. It feels nice and looks nice, but it is so thin and a real b**** to work with. I've used these knits for various dresses and top and cuss like a sailor every time I work with it lol. I should have sent it back but never did. Now I'm on a mission to rid my stash of this fabric the best way I know how--quick and easy sewing that looks halfway decent. My younger daughter passed on this top, my older daughter liked it. I even mentioned it could be made without the straps or the straps could be changed, heck, I could even lengthen it into a dress (hint, hint). Like I said, too much thin rayon/lycra knit that needs to be doubled layered for almost every garment. It even acts like a slippery, shifty knit during cutting.
So the things I liked abut this top was that it could be used for stash busting AND at least one of my daughters would likely stake a claim to it. Also, the straps can be changed for variation as well as bodice changes as noted on the Threads Insider instructions. It whips up quickly too.
Fabric Used:
Already mentioned it. An effin' slippery knit that has a mind of its own that wants to destroy mine. A very thin rayon lycra. Looks nice, feels nice, but that's about it. Oh yeah, good recovery.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None, pretty much as is per instructions.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'll probably make one for myself for summer. I tried it on and liked it, but I need a thicker knit. The rayon used for this top shows EVERY lump and bulge on the body.
Conclusion:
A nice, quick top from the Threads website. Not accessible to general public but if you're a Threads Insider, you are, well...IN! |
