Pattern Description:
Misses' dress in three lengths with sleeve variations by Cynthia Rowley.
Pattern Sizing:
6-14. I made a size 12. I think I cut the shortest dress length and it was pretty short and I used a rolled hem.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes - except I didn't make the sash - used a belt instead.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes they were. The dress is very simple except for the cut out sleeves and even those were fairly straightforward since I used some of the tutorials I found while reading reviews on this website.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the sleeves. I wasn't sure if they were going to fit my style and I waver between liking them and thinking they look corny. In the end though, I'm really happy that I made this dress.
I should have listened to other reviewers on the slit in the back though - it is really deep. I don't mind, and sometimes enjoy, showing back but this slit goes below my waist where I belted the dress and I could have shortened it a bit.
Fabric Used:
Polyester Crepe de Chine
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I lined the dress.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would recommend it - not sure if I'll sew it again though because the sleeves are so distinct/unusual.
Conclusion:
Simple, interesting dress - plus it's comfortable! Blog post here.
