We've been experiencing a January thaw lately so I thought I would do a January thaw garment. LOL I won't be able to wear this for another 5 months probably but with all the lace I've been seeing everywhere I was anxious to dip into that trend.

Pattern Description: Misses Tops: Pullover tops have lined yokes, gathered front and back, sleeve variations with gathered lower section. I made view A but did the sleeves differently than patterned.

Pattern Sizing: AA (6, 8, 10, 12), E5 (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) I made size 8.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes it does except for the sleeves

Were the instructions easy to follow? Super easy

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the lined yoke which makes it appropriate for the office. No dislikes.

Fabric Used: The pattern calls for wovens...silk jacquard, crepe, challis, charmeuse, double georgette...but I wanted to use this bamboo that I had on hand. I used it for a long sleeve T awhile ago and thought it would be great for this top. It's called 'stretch bamboo rayon jersey knit' and it feels and handles like a silk jersey. It makes fabulous t's if you are looking for a super comfortable knit (from Fabric.com).
I've been on the lookout for lace and this French option popped up on EOS. What I liked about this is that it's cotton and has a very interesting design and texture. It's got a little stretch due to the openess of the design and it paired beautifully with the bamboo. The yoke lining is also from EOS and it's called 'venezia 4-way jersey lining' in darker nude. Great stretch lining.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made no sizing alterations. The sleeves called for a peasanty-type of lower section, gatherered to the lace upper part but I didn't care for that so I opted to just do the lace sleeve by itself. I thought it needed a little something so I added a small band to finish it off nicely. No other changes other than stabilizing the shoulders which I usually do in my knits.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably will use this pattern again. It has many possibilities. I would recommend it.

Conclusion: The sizing seems true on this pattern and it gives you endless options for pairing lace with whatever...wovens or knits. I really like my first annual January thaw garment!

This is so charming (and looks so boutique-y!). I hope you can wear it sooner than 5 months from now - it's too pretty not to show off!
