Pattern Description:
'Zip-front jacket or hoodie with front pockets in princess seam and self-fabric cuffs and hem bands and stylish topstitching'. I made two of these jackets as 'rashies' (sun protection swimwear) for my two young sons. I wanted hoods to protect their necks from the sun. Pattern Sizing:
27 sizes from child to adult. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very straightforward. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I have made this pattern up three times now as a woman's light jacket, a girl's short-sleeved college-style jacket and now as a boy's swim/sun jacket. Each version I have made has been completely different from the others and I love the versatility of this pattern. Fabric Used:
I used three colours of nylon lycra in a slightly different combination on each jacket. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I omitted the pockets as I thought they might get full of sand while swimming otherwise I followed the pattern exactly. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I've already made several versions of this jacket and I will definitely make more. I would recommend taking care with the pattern sizing for children, particularly boys. I made these jackets two sizes larger than their chest measurements but they could still do with being a little longer in the sleeves and body. This may be because my boys are tall and slim. I love this pattern and would highly recommend it to others. Conclusion:
I have made two practical and stylish boy's jackets with this pattern. It is great for mixing and matching fabrics and works well in a lightweight fabric as swimwear - I wonder if this is the first time it has been used as swimwear!!

Isn't it great to be able to sew stuff for boys?! I'd love to give this a go but I'd need to find the fabrics first.
