Choice of eight-gored knit skirts with elastic waist. I sewed View E - Longer trumpet skirt
Pattern Sizing:
27 sizes in one pattern - I chose the largest (natch) and then added some
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Absolutely. In the photo I have taken I have shown the whole skirt - however I would normally wear it with the top covering my hips.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
To tell the truth - this skirt is so easy I didn't even look at the directions. I have rated this easy and great for beginners and I really do think that if you have never sewed before - you can do this skirt without directions. THERE IS ONLY ONE PATTERN PIECE!!!!!!
I would also like to add highly recommended.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Very easy to sew and as stated only one pattern piece. This made the necessary for me alterations very easy.
It quick to sew and feel great to wear. It "swishes" as you walk. Very nice indeed.
I also like the fact that there are 5 different skirts to choose from in this pattern (although I won't be choosing the "short" skirt - LOL). That still leaves me 4 easy skirts to play with.
Fabric Used:
ITY jersey from fabric.com (matches my creative cate top)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Although I chose the largest size I still had to add an inch to the pattern piece in width (there are 8 gores you make with the piece so that is 8 inches added in all). This was so easy - just cut it in half and added to the middle so that it didn't change the sides of the pattern piece.
I also added 2 inches to the top for length as I am tall. Being only the one pattern piece that is replicated - these adjustments took no time at all.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely - this is a comfy skirt that can be tizzied up in a fine print or made serious in a professional solid.
Conclusion:
This skirt is so easy I almost didn't review it for PR - I mean - all you do is sew up the sides of the gores, turn over the top and add elastic and hem the bottom. However I remember when I first started sewing (a little over one year ago) I was searching through the reviews looking for easy stuff to sew so I thought a review would be useful for some.
If you are new to sewing I would recommend making this skirt and the StyleArc creative cate top - a really easy combination that is sewn up in no time.
I just managed to make the last tour bus over at Jungle January at Pretty Grievances
