| Pattern Description:
Loose-fitting, pullover dress (semi-fitted throught bust) has double-layer neckband with raw edge finish, blouson bodice, elastic, seamed waist, side front pockets, front pleats, and stitched hems. Pattern Sizing:
6-14 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, and I needed to follow them carefully to put the skirt pockets together. It's an interesting construction and goes together really nicely. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The most unique features of this dress are the double-layered raw edge neckline and the pockets constructed with front pleats. I love both of these details. My only dislike was the pattern layout shown in the instructions. I thought it was very wasteful using only one fold and thought I would be short on fabric. Using a fold on each side with selvedges in the center resolved that problem and I had room to spare. Fabric Used:
Cotton knit Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I lengthened the bodice by 1". This was just a personal preference for me as I don't like things sitting above my waist. I thought from the pattern photo it looked high waisted and after measuring it, I knew I wanted it a bit longer. I lengthened the skirt by 2.5" and, depending on where I plan to wear future versions, I might make it even longer. It is very short. One word of caution if the wrong side of your fabric is very different than the right side: With the way the raw edge neckline is finished and attached at the shoulder, the wrong side of one of the seams shows. My fabric is almost white on the wrong side and I did not like that contrast so I folded over the seam allowance and tacked it shown here. Silly detail, maybe, but it bothered me. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes! I love this dress and foresee it taking on as many iterations in my closet as Vogue 1224 did. Conclusion:
I coveted this dress ever since seeing the version that CocosLoft made. If mine looks similar, it might be...I think I found the exact same fabric she used. Thanks, CocosLoft, for the inspiration. Since we're in different states we won't be running into each other at the grocery in our cheetah frocks!
