More details at my blog Thimbles, Threads, and Needles -- Kwik Sew 3399 Boys' Vest
Pattern Description: Boys' Trousers and Lined Vest. Vest is lined with front button closure and mock welt pockets.
Pattern Sizing: XS-XL. Boys sizes 4-14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, it did, except for the couple of little changes I had to do to make it fit properly.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Kwik Sew's instructions are always superb. I glanced at them briefly; this is your basic vest pattern and the construction is standard.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This pattern is well-fitting, with a back center seam for adjustments, and a nicely faced lining.
Fabric Used: A tropical weight wool suiting for the shell, a jacquard lining of mystery fabric content, probably polyester.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Lengthened the torso, which necessitated adding another button to the front closure.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I will likely sew it again. DS will almost certainly want another vest and it will be a while before he grows out of this pattern. I'm think that he could use a nice pair of trousers, too, so I may be using the trouser pattern in this envelope for those. And yes, I would definitely recommend it.
Conclusion: A nice pattern for a slightly formal boys' outfit. Can be dressy or plain depending on the fabric used. Easy to follow directions and fairly simple pattern pieces make this a quick project, well worth trying if you've never made a vest before and well worth the results if you have.

Your DS does look very handsome in the vest. I found this pattern very easy to use, and I appreciated that center-back seam, too. Boys deserve some hand-made clothes, and I think a vest will fit them longer than a shirt or pair of pants.
