Pattern Description: From Ottobre magazine "This romper brings to mind happy babies in old photos, our updated version is sewn from cute fish-patterned cotton poplin. The shoulder straps cross at the back, which makes them stay well in place."

Pattern Sizing: This is classified as a babies pattern and is listed in height sizes 56-86 cm (22" -33 7/8"). The baby modelling in the magazine photo looked about the same age as the baby I was making this for so I used the size mentioned, which was 62cm - for babies aged 6 months. I didn't have the baby with me at the time of sewing to measure him. He is average size and the romper is a little big so I would say the sizing is generous.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes it did.

Were the instructions easy to follow? I wouldn't say easy but if you've made a few different garments you would be able to follow along.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I decided to line my rompers and make them reversible. I don't remember why I thought this was a good idea because it made the pattern much harder than it needed to be. However perseverance paid off and I am pleased with the finished product although I don't consider it to be reversible because some overlocked seams show on the coloured lining. I could have saved myself a lot of grief but I learned a lot - so no time wasted. Whilst on the tell all - faults and all - I made another mistake on this pattern. Not really a mistake I suppose but annoying. I used Snaps from Snap Source for the closure of the straps and put my very first one on the wrong side of the blue bib. This meant that the straps when closed sat on the outside of the bib. So annoying and every time I see him in them I notice it anew.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Fabric Used:Linen left over from pants I made for me and a piece of light cotton for the lining I had in my stash.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might sew this again. My daughter has dressed him in it often on the hot days we've had lately and he has received many compliments while out and about. Including the "Where did you buy that - it's darling". She always tells me the things people say - lovely girl.

Conclusion: Cute little romper makes up into something you won't see on every other baby. It's comfortable in the summer and can be worn with a little T shirt on those days which aren't so hot and steamy. Our little baby loves the feel of air on his skin so he happily wears his often, without a shirt.

This is the first garment I have made up from Ottobre magazine and I enjoyed the process.

Lovely color on this sweet little one. Don't worry about the snaps at all! I didn't even realize they were wrong and would never have noticed. I still don't see anything wrong with them! (He looks to be enjoying crushing that aluminium tin--probably making some delightful crunching sounds.)

He is adorable! And so is the romper--the snaps look great and I bet the straps are more comfotable for the baby on the outside like they are!
