Pattern Description:
High waisted straight skirt provides a very flattering shape with paneled styling: not too loose or too tight around the hips, with a very fitted waist. Buttons up the front, has side seam pockets, and includes a self tie belt, which can be swapped out for your own narrow belts. Skirt has a faced waist, button placket and full lining.
Pattern Sizing:
0-18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I think it looked exactly like the picture...just one button shorter
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were excellent. Even though the pattern is labeled as intermediate, I think the instructions make it likely a determined beginner could accomplish it
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I think it leaves a lot of opportunity for differing features. You don't have to use the buttons, you can use decorative buttons, a different belt, different fabrics...I really think it offers a lot of options
Fabric Used:
I used an embroidered denim with rainbow sequins and completed the rainbow look with more rainbow buttons and rainbow topstitching
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I had to make it shorter...it ended up a very unflattering length for me. That is why my skirt ended up with one button less...I cut off the bottom button area.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I want to say that I would sew it again, but I would have to nail down the hip curve first. It does not quite fit my hips..the curve of the pattern is lower than my hips are. I am not sure if this skirt type necessarily flatters me..I'll have to wear it for awhile and see
Conclusion:
I put a lot more detail and photos on the blog as part of Sew Grateful Week. Enjoy! |

Love your skirt and it looks fantastic on you!

Very nice version. I think it looks good on you from the pictures - but if you feel it needs tweaking it is worth the trouble to do so - it is a very nice skirt pattern and offers a lot of versatility. I don't have a serger/coversticth machine or I would take you up on your offer of an easy way to do the belt loops - for me they were the toughest part.

This is adorable. And I love the belt. Your fabric choice is just perfect.
