| Pattern Description:
Short sleeve dress with gathered bodice (front and back), back zip, bound neck and arms, and empire waist ribbon.
Pattern Sizing:
98-128. I made size 128 lengthened to 134 for my 8yod.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved the magazine photo as well as the many lovely versions others have made up. I ended up liking mine less, mostly because it was simply wider than I'd anticipated and I would have wanted a closer fit on my thin and angular girl. I upgraded this slightly to fit my daughter, so it really is meant for a younger set, hence the extra roominess.
Other than that, it's a lovely style. There are two trickier areas, which is why I rated it "more difficult":
1. It's challenging to insert an invisible zip into gathered fabric (back zip). On the other hand, the gathers effectively disguise any zipper "irregularities".
2. Evenly gathering the front and back bodices neatly to both the neck and the empire waist seam is also tricky.
This was a fun pattern to use for a border print.
My daughter hates dress and wore this once, to a wedding, and awkwardly at that. So it won't see more wear until her younger sisters grow into it.
More photos.
Fabric Used:
Cotton lawn.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Probably not, since I don't love gathering (hehe), but if I needed a dressier dress again, I might consider it since it's a lovely style.
Conclusion:
Lovely dress. |

It might be her favourite dress once her sister grows into it. It's very pretty.
