Pattern Description:
Beautiful formal gown for girls with lots of fun tiers. Pattern Sizing:
My pattern only went to size 6, but my sister is a very tall 8 year old, hence the mods. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! Enormously pleased with the result. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes! I just read them once and then went from my knowledge of patterns. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It is very versatile. I used the longer version, obviously, but as you can see you can use pretty much any fabric and change it up. Fabric Used:
I used all scraps I had at home! The majority of it was taffeta from my masquerade ball gown a couple years ago (there is a link on the blog that is linked below) and other were leftovers form other formals or things that were given to me, even the zipper!
Note to self:Your little sister isn't a baby anymore! Soon her dresses will require just as much fabric as yours! Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Well, Emmy is a tall, skinny 8, so the size 6 bodice fit perfectly, but I had to add 8 or so inches to the bottom. That meant doing some math and lengthening every skirt piece.
Also, I didn't use the pattern for the waistband, I just was inspired by it and made up my own version. I think it is my favorite part. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes! Emily LOVES it. It is the first dress she had had in a while that is floor length on her and it makes her feel grown up. Conclusion:
A very nice pattern! I'm very happy with it. For more pictures visit the blog post at Jo-With-It's Portfolio

WOW! So pretty - I can see why she loves it. (You remind me that I had the same experience with my little sister catching up to my height and then she kept going...)
