Pattern Description:
From the Art To Heart Curiosities and Mischief book. It's a mat with pillow and a quilt attached. It's almost like a sleeping bag.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, especially since I used the same fabric. Yes, I'm not very creative when it comes to quilts, and I was lucky that I bought the book when the fabric came out, so I could get the same fabric.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy to follow. Nothing complicated, just straight lines here!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the idea of the nap mat. It's very cute and will be very useful for sleepovers or Parents survival night at the little gym. The only thing I don't like is having to bind the quilt and mat. But that's just because I suck at binding.
Fabric Used:
Curiosities and Mischief quilting cotton.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did change up the quilt a bit so I could put his name on it. Since my son's name is three letters and the pattern had three blocks for applique, it seemed to work well.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I may sew it again in the future when my son grows out of this one. Of course that would mean having to figure out to make it bigger (only one size is given in the instructions, but should be easy to make it bigger). But even if I don't sew it again, I would recommend anyone who has little ones to make one.
Conclusion:
Overall a great idea! And it's relatively quick to sew. I did use two layers of high loft batting for the mat - which did make the mat harder to work with. But it gives it that extra cushion to lay on. So well worth the extra trouble.
