Pattern Description: Below mid-knee dress has close-fitting, self-lined, sleeveless bodice with back tie ends to hold bodice in place, flared skirt, raised waistline and back zipper.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? The dress looked like the pattern minus the bow detail on the back and with the addition of the belt.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were very easy to follow. However, I did not stitch the bodice side seams together until I sewed the shoulder seams and turned the bodice. I also omitted the back tie ends and added a belt with a bow on the front.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the full skirt of this dress. It has a very retro vibe.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I omitted the back shoulder bow detail and added a belt with bow detail on the front of the dress.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I currently have the second dress from this pattern ready to cut out. The second dress will be made with the shoulder bow detail. I think the two dresses although similar will look entirely different. This is an easy dress to sew and has beautiful lines. Conclusion: This material has been in my stash for about 10 years and was purchased to line curtains. The curtains never were made and never found another use for the material. My daughter who is away at school wanted this pattern made for a university ball. In order to get the fit correct I decided to make a muslin dress before I cut into the material for the formal dress since her visits home are not often. We both loved how the stripped dress looked and added the belt. The belt can be tied in different ways. I still have to hem this dress and get the second dress ready for the ball in early March. The second dress will have the bow detail in the back similar to the pattern and my daughter is looking forward to its completion. The striped dress will be forever known as the "Gone with the Wind Dress" the dress made from curtains.

becca a said... Lovely dress! I've often wondered how the skirt would look without being held up as it is in the pattern illustration. What a great addition the front bow is. 2/10/13 10:51 AM
