Perfect timing - I just traced this pattern off last night and was debating making a similar change to the collar because, like yours, my fabric doesn't lend itself to showing on the reverse. Thank you for making the collar change and saving me a ton of work, and for explaining all your other changes so clearly. Nice job. 2/28/07 10:24 PM

To Suzanrossi: Yes, unfortunately I did decide to underline after I started constructing. Duh! I carefully sewed the underlining along the edge of pre-sewn seams (shoulder, below bust, back) Fortunately the sleeves weren't in yet. I didn't fully underline the collar, just up to the roll and catch stitched the edge of the underlining. Since tricot can run, I ran a small zig zag stitch around edges.
I really like the hand this underlining gave the light fleece and am now thinking of other ways to underline knits ... might buy an XXL silk mens long sleeve undershirt and take apart and use pieces for a nice stretchy thin velvet I have in stash. 3/1/07 12:21 PM
