Your pj's look comfortable, Looks like this is good basic pattern that could be made in various fabrics.

I recently did a Butterick Fast & Easy and also found the top too big through the shoulders. Although I wasn't happy with the pattern (and my review indicated that), I keep thinking I should give the pattern another chance and, like you, make the top again. I think these PJs look warm and snuggly. Good luck on attempt 2 and I hope you post the results!
