Cute top Amy! Something similar happened to me with Sim 4076 twisted top (hole on the shirt). It was quite a challenge to pass the fabric through (thick knit) so I do not think making it smaller would have worked for me. But I ended up just closing it afterward by seaming the two pieces together and reducing the size of the hole. I do not know if this will work with your pattern, but thought I would mentioned just in case.
