I think I should tell you that you aren't supposed to topstitch the seams 1 1/4" from the edge, you are supposed to mark, by basting, 1 1/4" from the edge, and then overlap the pieces flat using the basting as a guide, then stitch so that the center of the double line of stitching (I used a double needle too) is more or less 5/8" from the edge. If you don't use a double needle, the first line of stitching is 3/4" in from the edge, then 1/2" from the edge, so that there is 1/4" between the lines of stitching.

Hey, I just finished this skirt too. I love mine too.
