Actually I think with a solid dark color skirt or pants you would be fine. A scarf that matches the pants/skirt and would work really well. I love these kinds of blouse jackets because you can throw them on easily without worrying about coordinating shirts and jackets and such. Even a skinny belt would add another look. I think it is a go.
