Probably a good thing you ran out of fabric because the front facing is not drafted correctly and it adversely affects the neckline and armhole facing.

I ride too and I can echo your feelings about the britches - oh well, no one is in the woods anyway! your top however looks very cool and perfect for it's intended purpose.
