It's not so much the result that bugs me. I felt like so much of it was... unjustifiable? Like there's the triple darts in the front and the double ones in the back, on a garment that also has side front and side back panels. All those darts don't really do anything positive, don't add anything that couldn't have been achieved with single darts. They're not decorative and they're not necessary for fitting. Then there's the fact that it's an unlined vest with a high collar-- all that slipstitching it calls for ends up being more work than making a lined vest, but with the high collar, it's obviously not meant for warm weather.. so what's the purpose? Why not just line the vest, which would be easier anyway? I don't mind involved, time consuming projects, but if I'm doing a corset or something like that, it all has a purpose. This vest just felt like the end result didn't justify how involved it was.

It sounds like you feel kind of lukewarm about this, but I think the fabric combined with the shiny contrast fabric makes for a cool garment!
