Your resourcefulness is terrific. Thrift shops can provide the excellent and unusual. I love that you reused the button holes.

If boning is expensive, you can do channels instead and use those plastic zip pulls instead you get at the hardware store :)

Great idea with the zip ties....I think I will try that with this top since it will receive limited wear anyway.

Nice refashioning! I second what arianamaniacs said -- the zip ties work well and it's even sometimes possible to get extra sturdy ones if you're worried about them not wearing well.
