***this is an edit of my previous review. namely i updated my thoughts on the fly***
Pattern Description:
shorts or trousers
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
the instructions were great and easy to follow. the fly construction was a breeze as were the welt pockets. i do want to say that i had an issue with the fly extension piece being too wide. because of this the waistband piece seems to come up short, but i'm pretty sure the fly is the problem and not the waistband. i wrote up a post on my blog regarding this.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
where to start??? i bought this pattern the minute it came out mostly because it includes all the necessary details to make a long lasting pair of shorts or pants, like a fly facing, fly extension, pockets facings, welts, etc. this is a thoroughly drafted pair of pants. LOVE!
Fabric Used:
i used a 100% cotton twill with no stretch.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
i made a couple cosmetic changes, mostly to include top stitching to reinforce my seams. i also french seamed the pocket bags, omitted the cuffs and reversed the fly (to zip from the right instead of from the left. just a personal preference!)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
YES!!! a hundred times yes! this will be my pant/short pattern for years to come. even though it is a more expensive pattern, it is 100% worth the investment.
Conclusion:
if you are looking for a short/pant pattern up to RTW standards, this is the one you want! it fit me straight out of the envelope (which never happens!). my measurements were exactly that of the size 6, however i made up the size 4 and the fit is perfect.
