Your dress is VERY nice and looks terrific on you. It does look comfortable and in lightweight cottons must feel good against the skin. Nice job.

I think the fit looks good. While I hear you on the fear of gathers, I think the band through the middle prevents "bloat", so to speak. So many girls my age are wearing those cute little pencil skirted dresses with the pleats at the waist... whereas I instantly look pregnant.
