|Pattern Description: |
Project Runway Dresses, strapless and halter styles with or without flounces and godets and wide belt. I made the halter dress with godets and flounces for my daughter. She loves the twirliness of the skirt.
Misses size D (4-12)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! I'm always surprised when I end up with a perfect garment when I use these patterns. But careful measurement, the right fabrics and several fittings yielded great results.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions are well written and easy enough to follow. I didn't really understand why the halter dress needed boning, but I included it anyway thinking I could always remove it later if it's uncomfy. It does help support the back of the dress so it doesn't droop, though it's not 100% necessary. She doesn't seem to mind and finds it comfortable anyway.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Nothing to dislike. I want to make another one in the strapless version for one of my daughters... just because it's cute.
Cotton and linen/cotton. The bodice and skirt are made with a pink cotton floral and the godets and flounces are cotton linen. Both are perfect for summer... cool and comfy. Lining fabrics are cotton batiste and silk habotai.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added a skirt lining to the pattern since I want to be sure my daughter will not wear it without a slip. She's a bit of a tomboy and normally doesn't think of these things. In fact, she has never asked me for a pretty dress till now...
I traced off sizes 6-8-10 (bust-waist-hip). Her measurements were between sizes (though closer to the larger size), so I chose the smaller size. It worked out fine. I also shortened the neck-waist by 1".
I made a small bust adjustment, removing about 3/8" from the princess seam, and a sway back adjustment removing 1/2".
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I would definitely recommend this pattern. Make sure you take measurements and make the proper adjustments. This pattern is sweeeet! I'd like to make it again for someone, just for fun. It was a rewarding little project.

It's not a quickie, but it's lovely. And my daughter loves it. Wow... she's becoming a young lady.
