Pattern Description: This review is for the jacket I have reviewed the dress here
Were the instructions easy to follow? This jacket was quick and easy to make. The directions were pretty good and I liked that they show you how to finish the seams by turning them under and stitching. seam finish
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked that this jacket was easy to make and turned out nicely. The only dislike I have is that double breasted jackets are not my favorite. They never seem to hang the way I want them to. This does have an inside button to keep it straight, but I may end up adding a snap as well.
Oh, I also liked that the facings in the front are really wide. Inside of jacket
Fabric Used: linen rayon blend in a dark pink color.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: There war no darts, but I still wanted to do a FBA. I basically did a pivot and slide at the armscye to widen the bust area, and then did a slide down at the front to lengthen the CF by 1". I used a french curve ruler to continue the front curve back up to the original side seam. I like how it turned out.
tip: I always press up my bottom hem and sleeve hems before I put the jacket together. This makes it so much easier than trying to get an even width around after the seams have been sewn.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably won't sew it again, but I would recommend it. It was easy to make and turned out nicely. I just have so many other jacket patterns in my stash that I want to try. If you are a beginner, be careful when you are sewing on the yoke to the jacket. I always want to sew the neckline to the top of the jacket. That just won't work! LOL!
Conclusion: This is a nice little unlined jacket that makes a perfect topper for the dress. I think I will probably use it every time I wear the dress. Even in the summer, I get cold from the AC and need a light weight jacket.
Gorgeous ensemble, Nancy!
