Pattern Description: Girls double breasted coat. View A has welt pockets and collar; View B has patch pockets and a hood. I made View A.
Pattern Sizing:Seems to run a little big and boxy. Also, the coat is above knee-length, something I did not notice until it was too late. It is much shorter than I would have liked but I didn't have an inch of fabric left over so it is was it is.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?Since I added a full lining, I really didn't use them. However, KW instructions are usually excellent.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I like the classic style but as I mentioned, it is a bit boxy.
Fabric Used:I used a gray wool from Sew Much Fabric and black cotton velveteen from Farmhouse Fabrics. The coat is underlined with silk organza and the lining is silk charmeuse. The buttons were from Pat Mahoney of Pat's Custom Buttons and Belts. I will never cover another button in my life. Pat's are perfect; she is quick; and the price is reasonable. I highly recommend her!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:The only change I made was to add cuffs to the sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I doubt I will make another one but if you're looking for a cute, classic coat for a young girl, this is great.
Conclusion: Cute winter dress coat -- or play coat if you choose the hooded version.
