Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes, aside for a sleeve modification i did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
yup.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
i wasn't huge on the sleeve design, but everything else was good. it's a nice simple top and very quick to make.
Fabric Used:
i used 100% cotton, from the "homespun" section at joann's.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
the only thing i changed were the sleeves. the pattern has a regular short sleeve with a gathered rectangle added for the long sleeve version. instead of this, i cut the sleeve as one piece that i gathered at the cuff. to gather it i simply turned the hem wide enough to insert 1/4" elastic. i also chose to make the sleeves 3/4 length, as my daughter really loves that length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
i don't have any current plans, but i would definitely sew this one again. the top could be lengthened and belted to work as a dress, or have pockets added... i can see a few options.
Conclusion:
this top is for my 8 yr old daughter and i wish i had modeled pics, but just didn't have a chance to get some (if i do later, i'll update the blog with new pics). she really loves this top and wears it with thick leggings, skinny jeans, or a narrow denim skirt. since it's a looser fitting top i didn't have to worry about the fit quite so much. overall, it's a great pattern!
