Pattern Description:
This simple and pretty a-line skirt with high waistband will be a new wardrobe staple. Quick to sew, flattering to wear, and complete with excellent step-by-step instructions, this beautiful skirt is suitable for any sewer from beginner to advanced. Version 1 has a pointed center waist, version 2 has a shaped curved band. Version 3 has a straight waistband, with skirt cut on the bias. Choose a striped fabric with Version 3 for a beautiful chevron effect at the front and back!
Pattern Sizing:
As it is aline you just have to make sure to choose the right size for your waist and keep your hips in mind if you are a pear shape.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes - although I used another tutroal to add pockets
Were the instructions easy to follow?
As with Colette patterns the instructions were simple and straight forwards with nice illustrations.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the different versions of the waistband. You can create so many looks. I do not like that it does not have a version with pockets, BUT so many tutorials exist for this that it is easy enough to add.
Fabric Used:
corduroy. so lovely for winter
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added piping and pockets
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
oh yes!! this will be a common make i am sure. I want to expirment with other fabrics too!
Conclusion:
great and easy make. looks very professional in the end and can be modified nicely to give it a personal touch. (i still need to add a nicer zip but overall i am really happy)
