Pattern Description: Dress with fitted bodice with round slightly scooped neck, front and back darts to waist, skirt with front darts, front pleats and pocket and back vent. Back zip. Lined. Dress can be sewn with no sleeves, longs sleeves, cap sleeves little wedge sleeves. Optional neckline tabs on View C.
Pattern Sizing:The pattern comes in 4 through to 20. I made the dress larger than my usual size on purpose, then took it in a bit.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes but not completely. I wanted a loose unlined dress for hot weather. I also changed the skirt to a gathered skirt with side seam pockets..
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes, they are good.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I like this dress for its basic shell. If it suits you there are endless possibilities.
Fabric Used:Rayon from my stash.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:Apart from making it looser I used the lining pieces to make the skirt and widened then to be twice as wide for gathering. I eliminated the pockets, dew my own and put them in the side seams. While tinkering with the fit to make the dress not so loose I ended up leaving out the zipper.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, undoubtedly. I have sewn it before and even made it up in a knit for my daughter.
Conclusion: A great shell if you bear in mind that it does not have side bust darts. More on my blog here.
