| Pattern Description:
A draped front blouse with two-piece bias sleeves and hem band.
Pattern Sizing:
I sewed up a size 16, my usual size. The pattern ranges from 4 through 20.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, I think so, if you look beyond the print of my fabric.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The markings and instructions for this pattern were excellent. No errors and everything matched and met up beautifully.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the drapey liquid gold look of the top, although I think it suits my hourglass shape much better in a georgette. There's a lot of fabric in the design across the bust, and I do not need any extra volume there.
Fabric Used:
20-yr old poly georgette from my stash
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None. I did not do an FBA as there was enough ease in the garment to make it redundant. I suppose a purist would argue that I should have done an FBA to get the true drape of the design, but I'm a little leery of adding extra fabric in a draped design like this blouse is over my already-full bust area.
The sleeves are two-piece bias cut sleeves and they are a bit long. I never need to adjust sleeve length on patterns, but this seriously needed about 3 inches taken off it. Here's the "before" picture. Of course, I kinda sorta thought the georgette would grow (it did), so I simply turned back the cuffs by half and fell-stitched them into place. "After" pic is here. There is a very deep 4-5 inch pleat into the sleeve cuff which drapes the sleeve around to the front. It's a very ingenious take on the full cuffed sleeve.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I like this take on a cowl-necked blouse. You can see pictures of it both tucked in (as per Vogue) or untucked on my blog post about this top. I think, if the silhouette looks good on you, it would be a lovely tunic. I didn't grade up through the hips one size as I usually do, because I have no intention of ever wearing it as a tunic over skinny jeans as that is not a flattering silhouette on my figure.
I like this blouse, but I don't think I need two, so I may not sew it up again. I would highly recommend it, though. Donna Karan's designs are fun and interesting and figure-flattering.
Conclusion:
A fun pull-over blouse with a lovely draped cowl neck and full sleeves. I especially like it in this printed lighter-weight fabric.

I would have passed on this top, as it looks very full. But your top is lovely. I might have to rethink this.
