Pattern Description:
"Semi fitted, lined jackets have princess seams, collar and lapels, gored back(back is longer than the front), shoulder pads, and shaped hem. "
Whew.
Pattern Sizing:8-22
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
No, They have you do some crazy thing like sewing the lining sleeves in by hand after the jacket is all put together. That's just crazy talk.
I only use Palmer/Pletsch Jackets for Real People. This is a traditional notched collar jacket. I used their bagging technique. Fully Tailored Bound buttonhole What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
1)I liked the drafting. It truly is drafted for shoulder pads. There were horrible folds on my chest prior to inserting the pads, then they disappeared.
2) The shoulder is gorgeous. It has good amount of ease. Shoulder
3)The jacket hangs beautifully. The gored hem comes together beautifully.
4)It has a separate lining pieces.
5)It has separate pieces for under and over collar. Back Fabric Used:
Wool from Britex Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1)I added 1" to all the pattern pieces at the lengthen lines, not at the hem line.
2)Personal alterations of broad back, broad shoulder, forward shoulder. Fit the side seams of course.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Only need one but can't get rid of the pattern because it is so unique and drafted so well.
Conclusion:
I cut this out, did the fitting and alterations, fused the pieces, taped the roll line, and sewed the body of jacket and lining last Febuary then put it away. I spent an additional 10 hours finishing the jacket; sleeve insertion, and sleeve heads, shoulder pads, pressing, bound buttonhole, notched collar construction.
Whew, I'm tired. Not a quick jacket but it's a great unique piece.

This jacket is all business in the front and a party in the back and you have done a good job. This is one of those investment pieces that you will be able to wear for many seasons. On another note sewing the sleeve lining in by hand is a couture technique and may seem crazy in today's throw away fashion culture.
