Pattern Description:
From site:
This pattern is a duplicate of a famous designer cape.
The front is one long piece of fabric that folds at the bottom, then reverses itself to the other side so that both sides of the fabric shows when wearing this garment.

The back has a yoke that shapes the shoulder area so that some shaping occurs. So many fabrics work well with this pattern simply giving it a different look each time you make it.

Pattern Sizing:
One Size Fits Most.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes more or less. The envelope cover, with a lighter fabric was not the look I was going for though.

A couple of other photos

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes very! but there are some areas you have to deal with the cutting out of that one piece that is long and gets turned on itself before sewing. Also, mark everything clearly so you can have the sides facing out where you want them to be and the cross over direction where you want it (right or left).

I just threw mine together and it still looks fine. I have worn this out with no one noticing any of those details because the wool is such a soft rich color.

Fabric Used:
VW lambswool - so soft!
I would suggest a wool flannel or soft sweater knit with body to it, bc the exposed edges are so simply finished (rolled under and top stitched) so they show on one side. The soft flannel looked more uniform and doesn't call too much attention. Dark color, dark thread

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
A dark shiny snap where the tie would be in front.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes
Conclusion:

This is an interesting topper with an unusual twist (literally) in the front. It is cozy and easy to wear!

It's for me but since it is a one size fits most, I grabbed my dd for easy photos. She liked it so much I may give it to her... but maybe not....
I have worn it out and about, and received lots of compliments. I am really into the poncho style right now.

This looks so warm and cozy! Perfect for over any top. I made a wearable muslin out of a heavy weave cotton and yours inspired me to try it in a soft sweater knit! Thanks for the review

That does look cozy and I love the color. I really like this pattern and have considered purchasing for a long time but..........The both sides of the fabric shows really limits fabric choices...or at least in my case. The fabric I wanted to use does not have a good flip side :-(

For a winter weight, I would suggest a wool flannel or soft sweater knit with body to it, bc the exposed edges are so simply finished (rolled under and top stitched) they show on both sides. This is easier to roll and topstitch than say chiffon or organza, especially around curves. The soft flannel looked more uniform and doesn't call too much attention. Dark color, dark thread:-) You need something heavy enough to hold the style.
