Pattern Description:
Zip-front jacket or hoodie with front pockets in princess seam and self-fabric cuffs and hem bands and stylish topstitching. Pattern Sizing:
27 sizes, girls to women. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, apart from my modifications. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very clear. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the styling, fit and finish of this pattern. It is very stylish and flattering. I would probably go up a size or two for a child as the fit is spot on and leaves no room for growing! Fabric Used:
Stretch sports mesh for the main jacket and pink cotton knit for the collar, cuffs, pocket welts and waistband. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
My seven year-old niece was very specific in her instructions for this jacket. Accordingly, I made it with short sleeves, a college-style collar and the number '64' appliqued on the back. The collar necessitated some changes to the zip insertion, which are detailed on my blog. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I have a feeling that I will be making another one of these when this one gets too small as it is much loved by my niece. I have previously made this jacket for myself and love the pattern. Conclusion:
This little jacket turned out really well as a short-sleeved version and my niece absolutely loves it. I made a matching skirt using Jalie tankini pattern 3023, which goes beautifully with the jacket to make a little tennis outfit. The jacket and skirt patterns are stylish and modern and the fit is great, although I would recommend going up a couple of sizes for a child.
