Update: Here is Now #2.

On this version I narrowed the circumference by taking a tuck from shoulder to hem on both fronts and back pieces for a total of 2". I have really narrow shoulders, so this helped a lot. I also lengthened the hem by 3"
I like how the inside of the Collar is completely finished

Also, even the sleeve/armhole seam is encased in a French seam.

I have enjoyed making this top a couple of times.

Pattern Description: Now and Zen shirts by the Sewing Workshop. Both shirts have a boxy style, no darts, long sleeves, and collar. I have always steered away from TSW patterns because their line drawings always look so boxy and oversized. I was pleasantly surprised with this shirt.

Pattern Sizing: XS - XXL I made an XS for this one, but will need to cut it down further in the future

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, but I like it better than the picture

Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions are very good and complete.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I have noticed lately that I have a lack of long sleeved shirts in my closet. This pattern looked fast and easy - and it was!

Fabric Used:
Well, this is some old quilting cotton that I've had for years. This started out as my muslin, but since it was fitting pretty well, I decided to finish the shirt.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: For this version, I added a dart and went to a small in the side seams to make up for a large bust. After trying on the basic bodice, I realized I need to make some slight adjustments for my shape. Next time I will take in 1/2" on both front pieces from shoulder to hem. I will do the same on the back. Also, I need to take out about 1/2" horizontally between the bust point and the shoulder. I plan to cut another of these out this weekend with the adjustments.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I have some other fabric that I plan on making this with right away. I would also like to make one in linen and another in cotton flannel.

Conclusion: This is a great, basic shirt. The collar construction is different than any other I've tried, but super easy and gives a nice result.

Looks nice. I like cottons, thanks for the info on brands you like. Re your buttonhole thread issue (on your blog) I've heard it suggested that you use two different color threads to a buttonhole - that makes it blend in more with a multi-color fabric. Haven't tried it, but makes sense.... I agree with you on buttoned up collars... ;)
