| Pattern Description: Two piece genie costume with lots of trim.
Pattern Sizing: Child 2 through Misses 16 (but NO size 6!!??)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not really, but I was not going for the genie look. I wanted it to be more Jasmine from Aladdin.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Easy enough, though I didn't do all the extra trim.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I didn't like that the pattern is not available in size 6. Size 4 would have been way too small, and the size 8 is huge, but I am not comfortable with altering sizes.
Fabric Used: Cotton for the pants and upper bodice, satin for the pants yoke and bottom bodice and a glitter organza for the overlays.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Pattern calls for lots of trim, which, even if I could source locally, would have added way too much cost to an already expensive costume. I kept the trim fairly simple. Jasmine's costume is not overly beaded and bangled anyway.
I also used velcro on the back closure rather than buttonholes. Easier for my granddaughter to get in and out of that way.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would make it again, but would probably try to source better trim. The Simplicity stuff I used looks like it is not going to hold up well.
Conclusion: My granddaughter will enjoy playing dress-up with this, but I still wish the sizing could have been better.
