Pattern Description:
Baby leggings, t-shirt and jumper pattern. This is the third time I have made the leggings. I made the shirt once as is, then used it to draft this a-line ruffle dress, inspired by a bigger sized dress I made for my senior collection.
Pattern Sizing:
XS-S-M-L-XL. I made the M to fit my 7month old goddaughter. M fits her great now with a little room to grow. She wears 9mos in RTW.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
The leggings did, I modified the top to become a knit dress.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, although the placket is a little fiddling but comes out nice in the end. I used a Snap Source snap in pink and size 16. Placket
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Great basic for this size range, good instructions, easy to modify. I haven't made the jumper yet, it's not as much my style.
Fabric Used:
The print for the dress is a cotton lycra, the leggings are a cotton interlock. Both are from Joanns Juvenile Apparel section. The legging fabric has silver sparkles. Sparkle fabric
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None for the leggings. I added a size tag and my label for a RTW look. Size tag. I finished the hem and waistband with a twin needle. twin needle
Dress: Many! I lengthened the top and widened the hem to make it an A-line dress. I cut 1" strips of the print and used my ruffle foot to ruffle them up and then stitched them to the dress using a straight stitch. The ruffles wrap around the dress. dress front This dress was inspired by a piece from my senior collection and is the second time I have made the ruffle dress in baby size. I also changed the construction for the neckline binding. I finished off the ends and then folded WS together and serged on. I like the look of this much better then the bound instructions Kwik Sew gives you. I hemmed everything with a twin needle.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I will make more dresses/tops/leggings as she grows. It's great for almost any season or as a layering piece.
Conclusion:
Great starting pattern for my Christmas present for my goddaughter!
This matches the jacket I made here. Leggings Back of dress Dress with jacket
