Pattern Description: Semi-fitted, low rise pants with loose-fit legs.
Pattern Sizing: 32-44 or 6-18. I started with size 38.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I had something different in mind, so no.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
-I thought it would be a good basic pattern to make hiking pants with the wider leg for ease of movement.
-Too low rise for me.
Fabric Used: Black organic cotton canvas from Fabric.com. Topstitched in charcoal Gutermann topstitching thread. Ykk jeans zipper from Wawak.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
-UGH, I spent about 3 weekends trying to get a great fit. Am working with other sewists at "The year of pants" on the discussion board.
-Added 1 inch to rise overall.
-Tried to eliminate saggy underbutt by removing length from back crotch to balance back and front for my stance.
-Straightened front crotch for same reason as above.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I can't even think about it right now.
Conclusion: After LOTS of time spent on these pants I feel like I ended up with a wadder. I'm not sure where I went wrong but I think I just needed about another 1-2 inches in the rise. These are NOT comfortable pants and look terrible, like they will fall down if I make a move.
