Pattern Description: Misses Dress: Pullover dress has self-bias neck binding , loose fitting bodice, front and back cut in one (no shoulder seams), raised waist with drawstring and narrow hem.
Pattern Sizing: Pattern size was XY (Sml-Med_Lrg) Usually I am a size 14 in McCalls patterns, but since I was using a jersey fabric I decided to cut a Small which turned out perfect.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes except for the changes I made.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were very clear and easy to understand. This pattern would be great for a beginner to try.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the simplicity of the style and the how easy it was to sew. No dislikes.
Fabric Used: The pattern recommends light to medium weight woven and knit fabrics. I used a jersey which had a lovely drape. Feels lovely to wear, and I love the finished result. I think the result would have been quite different if I had used a woven fabric.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I sewed the neck binding differently to the pattern instructions. I cut a strip of jersey about 3/4 the length of the neck line opening and about 4cm wide (folded in half lengthwise, wrong sides together). I trimmed off the 1cm seam allowance from the neckline. Then I overlocked the binding to the neckline stretching it to fit evenly. I then pressed the seam allowance towards the bodice so that the binding sat at the edge of the neckline. Then I topstitched around the neckline through the overlocked seam allowance which made everything sit nice and flat. This resulted in a nice neat finish that also put enough tension on the neckline opening to avoid any gaping.
The second change I made was to omit the drawstring and the button hole openings. I inserted 12mm wide elastic in the casing cut to suit my measurements. This was a comfortable alternative that would not need constant adjusting as a drawstring would. After I tried the dress on I felt that it just didn't look finished so I made a sash to tie over the elastic casing. There was plenty of fabric left to cut a sash 3m x 22cm, folded in half lengthwise. I simply overlocked across one end and along the length, turned out to right side, pressed and tucked in raw edges on open end and sewed closed. This wraps around me twice with enough length to tie at the front. I am quite pleased with the way this finished off the dress.
I added 4cm to the length as I am 5'8" tall.
Also, I wore a store bought camisole under the dress as the neckline is extremely low. However, I quite liked the effect of the camisole at the front..
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will definitely be sewing this one again. I can see it as a top or a knee length dress too.
Conclusion: I would thoroughly recommend this pattern for it's ease of sewing and the great result you get with no fitting problems. To see more photos Click here

Don't you love this dress?!!! I've made it 3 times in different styles and fabrics and all are great. I just sewed up the neckline a bit to make it not too revealing. Your dress looks beautiful and the fabric choice is perfect.

I'm going to try this patten. I will probably have to wear a camisole too; that might be too much cleavage for me. Great coverage on the upper arms. Love it!
