Pattern Description: Knit dress or tunic top with sleeve variations and crossover bodice.
Pattern Sizing: Multiple sizes 8-18. I made size 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes except that I added short sleeves. Close up of bodice and sleeves
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were easy to follow except for step 7. There is a mistake here. It says to match the fold lines (this comes later). It should say match the button hole markings.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? There is lots to like about this pattern...the flattering shape, the ease of sewing and the adaptability of the design. You can make a sleeveless sun dress or a long sleeved winter weight tunic top and everything in between.
Fabric Used: The suggested fabrics are stretch knits only: including Matte Jerseys, Lightweight Double Knits, Stretch Velvet, Two Way Stretch, and Novelty Knit Fabrics. I used a Fine Jersey Knit purchased from Spotlight, which worked out fine.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: This is the third time I have made this pattern. This time I cut the neck binding in a size 8 (the rest of the pattern I cut a size 12), this fixed the gaping problem I had at the back of the neckline in previous makes. I also added short sleeves. I modified the long sleeve pattern by copying the hem shape and length of the sleeve in New Look 6735 View C Click here I was very pleased with the result.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? As I have already mentioned, this is the third time I have made this pattern, each one slightly different, and I don't think this will be the last time. Front Back
Conclusion: This is a very versatile pattern...a real wardrobe builder. Thought I would share this story with you. I wore this dress grocery shopping today. The shop was very busy, full of tourists. As I was weaving my way through the shoppers with my trolley I felt someone tap me. I turned to see a little girl aged about 7 or 8 looking up at me. She just wanted to tell me that she really liked my dress. I was so surprised to receive such a lovely compliment from a complete stranger. It really made my day.
