Pattern Description:
Misses' Cynthia Rowley dress with length and sleeve variations.

Pattern Sizing:
6-12, mine is a 6-8-8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
More or less. My version has some minor changes.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't follow them exactly, but they are good instructions with clear pictures.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the pretty V-neck, which I raised 2". (I'd read more than one review which used the word "indecent".) I like the pockets which are fun and cute and a side zip is a classy finish.
ETA: I love that the front facing catches in the midriff seam. It keeps everything nicely in place and makes a facing bearable. ;)

Fabric Used:
This is a crepe suiting from fabric.com. It's not what I would call a suiting weight (I definitely need a slip!) but, it's a pretty color with nice drape and I don't get all that hung up over man-made fabrics.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I always shorten the backwaist by 3/4". When I tissue fit this, I noticed that the underbust seam was going to hit low on me, so I shortened the bodice piece 1/2" and shortened the midriff piece 1/4". I did a 1/4" forward shoulder alteration. I cut the upper bodice at a 6, thereby eliminating my need for a narrow upper back alteration, but I did a 1/4" narrow upper chest alteration. My shoulders widen out a wee bit right above my hollow chest, so I added a scant 1/4" back in right at the top shoulder/sleeve seam, tapering to nothing at the yoke/bodice seam lines. I tapered out to an 8 at the waist. This crepe has more bulk than most of the recommended fabrics, so I reduced the width skirt pieces by 2" each to reduce the waist gathering. I had to modify the sleeves as well. The enormous puffing made me look like I stepped right out of the 80's so I reduced the gathering in the sleeve cap (using the book Fast Fit) by 2.5" and recut. The elbow length sleeve was overwhelming and unflattering on my frame so I shortened them by 2.5".
The skirt is lengthened 1" at the hem.
It needed a little something extra, so I sewed string pearls on by hand. The skirt is hemmed by hand after I decided that the fabric had too much bulk for an attractive machine hem.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I considered doing this up in a lovely silk in my stash but, really it doesn't feel very much like "me" and I think I'll try the next dress in my immense pile of patterns.

Conclusion:
This is a very nice, well drafted pattern. It goes together easily and is simple to alter and make your own. It's a worthy addition to your collection.

Sorry! I didn't see the little box that keeps edits from going to the front of the line!

this is very pretty on you, i think the midriff beading and your necklace make the look. I hope someday to be as adept as you are in making all those little adjustments in fit!
