| Pattern Description:
Straight skirt, mid-knee length, has side zipper and faced waistline; skirt A has shaped lower back flounce; skirt B has pleated lower back; skirt C has gathered lower back with self-fabric ruffle; skirt D has two lower back flounces. I made View B yet again!
Pattern Sizing:
(12 - 18) I wavered between the 10 for my waist and an 11 1/2 over the hips! Actually, closer to an 11 1/4!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, strangely identical to the line drawing - that's a first for me!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy, with lots of markings to match up those pleats on the back. And since I had only just made this skirt last week, and the week before ... the skirt just fell together (with a little help from me).
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Love that it is super quick to whip up, has princess panels to help tweak out the fitting around key (read tummy and butt) areas, and that it is plain enough for work, yet has a lovely little surprise on the back.
Fabric Used:
A printed linen from Spotlight,left over from a dress I just made.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Well, nothing major in my books. I used an invisible zipper purely for personal preference. And it certainly is invisible with this print!
I fully lined the skirt in a light-weight cotton lining - it is a summer skirt and light and airy is the key. Being a linen fabric it already has a bit of body to it, but just wanted it to be smooth over the bodies lumpy bits.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes to both. It is a super skirt pattern with lots of interest behind - mainly for others to see! I currently have my next version cut out, just waiting for the white-thread-fairies to visit my overlocker for a quick change of thread...
Conclusion:
I am in sewing-love over this pattern at the moment. Love to wear all three of these skirts I have made from this pattern. They don't take much fabric, and I think all styles are suitable for both summer and winter, depending on your needs. And I still think View C would make up in a lovely evening fabric for a good going-out skirt...more piccies at my blog...
