Pattern Description:
Men's boxer short: "The boxer shorts are designed for lightweight woven fabric such as cotton types, batiste, broadcloth and silk.
They have a fly opening in the front and stitched elastic at the waist. View A has side hemline slits and View B has a curved hemline."
Pattern Sizing:
S - M - L - XL based on waist measurement.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Basically, yes, but the envelope drawing is getting a little on the 'dated' side.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy, with only 2 pattern pieces and a length of elastic you really can't go wrong!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Liked the quickness of assembling the boxers, and short amount of time and fabric needed.
Fabric Used:
A quilting cotton, inspired by a quilt from the International Quilt Study Centre and Museum at the University of Nebraska! The things you learn from the selvedge!!!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
These are for my very tall son, so I added a fair bit of length onto the inseam and side seam length.
Also, son wanted the fly section sewn up!!!
And changes for me, the sewer - I used a flat-felled seam finish on all seams for comfort.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Well, will be sewing them again next week, and the week after. Promised dear son a pair a week - the heat of summer must be getting to me!
Conclusion:
I mightn't be putting Calvin Klein out of business, but these sure are the next best thing according to the men in my household. The way you can individualise these boxers is endless - optional fly fasteners, buttons, snaps, or no fly, type of fabric, length etc. There is no back seam to 'annoy' the wearer, but rather a full seated bottom that stays in place. Just a great simple boxer pattern that really works with little effort from the sewer. More info at my blog!!!

This pattern is a favorite among the men in my household also. I have many KS patterns with outdated photos, but the design never seems to go out of style.

My first ones from this pattern were done from a Calvin Kline sheet that was super soft. Then I moved on to some nice cottons in what was I thinking when I bought these prints that dh really liked a lot. I really like the rtw look I get using the kwik sew instructions for sport elastic, Dh likes the way these are cut so this was a win win pattern for me also. I have a really tall son in law so I enjoyed your review and blog and found both helpful.
