Pattern Description: Misses Unlined Jackets and Dresses

    Pattern Sizing: (6-8-10-12-14)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Mostly. My friend liked my dresses so much she wanted to buy the pattern. When she looked at the artist rendering she noticed that all views showed a racer back but in all reality only e and f have one. I verified this with the drawings on the back and checked to see if in fact there was a racer back pattern piece. There is. The photo also shows a wider strap which will not be achieved if you use the 5/8" recommended hem at the neck and armhole as I did.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Very Easy

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that it only has 2 pattern pieces. Even though it went fast there is probably a better way to finish the inside.

Fabric Used: Vintage Polyester Knit and a woven textured border print cotton

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I went with view c shortened 1 inch at the waist in a size 8. Although my true measurements would have been a 12 on top and 14 on the bottom. I came about this decision by comparing it with a dress I already have and wanting to experiment with sizes to find a fix for all the extra fabric I usually have in the back. The 8 is very form fitting and requires some flexibility. I probably should have went a little bigger when using the woven fabric and/or inserted a zipper.

Because these are for the OPML here are my design changes for view c:

Version A-Orange stripe dress: Longer length and higher neck line. The hem is at floor level when I touch my knees to the floor in a kneeling position. My husband reminded me of a rule for Miss Nevada Contestants a long time ago when I volunteered for them. It was considered a proper length. The scarf in the middle view is made from scraps.

Version B-Woven Cotton Motif dress: Neckline and hem line are cut to pattern but I added a silk seam binding to the edge of the hem and only used a 1/8 inch seam.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I will...my husband wants an even shorter version.

Conclusion: This was a fun pattern to just sew and feel a of sense accomplishment.

Beautiful dresses! I love the woven fabric. Is it color blocked or is it a border print?
